~New Items Coming Soon~

Well, Christmas is all over, and it's back to work for me!! We had a wonderful Christmas...I was spoiled with lots of great presents. The kids got most of the things on their lists and we just had a great day overall. Now, it's on to designing and making things for the new year. I'll be doing a few Valentine things, but am mostly concentrating on Spring, so look for lots of bunnies in the future! I would post a preview, but am not far enough along for that yet, but hopefully by the end of the week. I'll have a couple of new items for Lemon Poppy Seeds on Thursday, so you can check there to see what I have new then, and I'll let you know when I update my Picture Trail or Ebay, and I am hoping to finally get something new on Etsy. I've had an account there for a while, but haven't done much with it. Well, that's all for now. I hope you all had a great Christmas, and here's to a wonderful New Year! Blessings~Jackie

I'd also like to thank all of you for your continued support of our work. I've met many new people on line this year & at the show. It's been a wonderful year for us, and I am looking forward to whatever the new year brings. God Bless You ALL!! ~~Jackie

~~Finally Finished~~

I am finally finished with all of my holiday orders!! Yippee!! I will be spending the rest of this week baking, wrapping the last of the presents and making a couple of gifts for family. Next week I will spend the week relaxing and enjoying family. I am going to try real hard not to pick up a piece of fabric, or a sketch pad & pencil, but it will be really hard for me. I always have so many things swirling around in my head that I want to do, and I hardly ever take time off anymore, but I will try! I won't be updating my Picture Trail or putting new things anywhere until probably mid to late Jan. I am going to work really hard at setting work hours and sticking to them in 2009. I have been getting up at 4 0'clock in the morning, and working until 9 o'clock at night including the week ends, and my old body is telling me I have to slow down a bit. I need to spend more time having fun with the kids & Derek as well. At least that is the plan!! We'll see if I can stick to it. I'll try to post at least a couple of times a week here to let everyone know what's going on and when updates will be. Well, that's all for today...I'm off to get some things done before the girls get up. They are on a 2 hr. delay for school, so I need to get busy!! Take care~~Jackie

**Ginger Bread House**

Well, usually every year I go and buy graham crackers, frosting, and a bunch of candy, and the kids make a little gingerbread house from scratch, but his year I saw a really cute little kit at the store, so I decided to go that route instead this year. We only have the 3 younger girls at home now, and the oldest (Courtney) is 17 & wasn't too into it this year, so while I was wrapping some gifts last night the 2 youngest (Hillary~11 & Gracie~9) dove into putting it together and decorating it. I think they did a pretty good job, don't you?? Usually we like to "display" their art work, but this year it looked so yummy that I thought....why not let them enjoy it before it gets hard as a rock!! So, after taking some pictures of them with it, I let them rip into it. We still have all the cookie decorating to do, so the fun will continue. Hope you all like seeing the pictures of my 2 littlest artists. Blessings~~Jackie

~2 New Patterns~

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! We had a great time eating lots of food and visiting with family!! The only complaint that I have is that my two oldest children were not here with us, but they have to spread their wings and start to live their own lives even though it's tough on their old Mom!!

Well, on to the patterns~~I have finally finished 2 more patterns and have them listed on Ebay, Pattern Mart & my Picture Trail. They are the Christmas Garlands & Mr. Kringle, so if you get a chance hop over to one of those sites to take a look!!

Now I am off to get ready for some shopping with my sister....we are going to hit some antique shops & a primitive shop uptown. Have a blessed day~~Jackie

~~HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL~~

I just wanted to wish you all a great Thanksgiving Day filled with lots of laughter, food, family & fun!! I am thankful for so many things this year. I will be spending the day & night cooking and cleaning, because I will be having Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year!! YIPPEE!! As some of you know, last year we were in TN., and did not get to spend any holidays with our family, so this is extra special for us. I wish my whole family could be here, but I feel so blessed to have some of them coming to spend time with us. Take care & Blessings until next time~~Jackie

~~Update Reminder~~

Whew!!! I have everything all ready for tonight to hit the button at 7 p.m.!! Here's just a little peek!! I didn't know if I'd make it since I woke up yeaterday to a terrible head cold!! I usually don't get sick, but somehow managed to catch a cold this time around!! I just stayed in bed most of the day with my work and managed to get things done in spite of this little bug!! A 2 hour napped helped!! : ) That's usually something that I never get either, and it sure felt good!! I may just take another this afternoon!! I may just get out the old Christmas movies and curl up under the nice warm covers & fall asleep to my favorite Christmas movie~~ The Little Drummer Boy, or my second favorite animated movie~~The Charlie Brown Christmas. No matter how old I get, I still have to watch them every year. : ) Hopefully, I won't sleep through my update!! Just kidding~~I'll set the alarm if I have to! Hope to "see" you there!! Blessings~~Jackie

~Simple Goods Show~

Well, the show is over and we had such a great time!! Max and Candy sure do know how to put on an awesome show!! They are such sweet and wonderful gals!! We only managed to get a couple of shots of our booth, and sadly none of the others, but I can tell you that they were all absolutely wonderful!! Perfectly Primitive!! I got to meet a couple new gals from the show only briefly as everyone was so busy with set ups, customers & then breaking everything down again but I did get to put some faces with names ~Susan of "Bittersweet Susan", Donna of "Crickets in the Corn" Faye & Twigs from Mercantile Gatherings, We even got to see some old friends from Wisconsin, and lots of on-line customers!! It was so nice to see my customers in person. What a great bunch of people. Even though it was a bit chilly on the porch, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!! If you have never been to this show, you have no idea what you are missing! Thank you Max & Candy for making this such a wonderful week end for us!!

The Show's Almost Here!!!

Well, today has been very busy, and we will be working well into the night to get everything packed up & ready to head to Mt. Vernon tomorrow!! We haven't done a show in a couple of years, and I had forgotten how much work is involved. Now, we just have to keep praying that the weather will turn out better than they are forecasting!! Well, my break time has just about run out, but I promise to post pictures of our booth & tell you all about the show on Monday. We are going to have a room with a hot tub in it & relax all week end!! Blessings~~Jackie

Working Hard

Good morning!! I am working hard getting orders finished and things made for the upcoming show. My fingers are so sore right now, but I am finally seeing some progress being made!! Only 2 more weeks to go!! After the show, I have a couple of orders to get done, and then I am hoping to take some much deserved time off!! I need to get at all of the Fall cleaning before it is Winter!! The dust bunnies are multiplying faster than ever around here. I do have to say that my children and hubby have been wonderful with helping with the everyday things around here, but they just don't do the deep down cleaning that needs to be done! Sooooo....when the show is over, and the orders are all done, I will try to tackle all of those little things that have been adding up around here so that the house will be nice and clean & crisp for my favorite time of the year...the Christmas Season!! Time to get out the flannel sheets, cranberry candles, pack away the summer clothes, etc. and settle in for the winter. I may even make a thing or 2 for my own house. After about 14 years of making dolls and other things, I only have 2 of my dolls in my house!! I call them Derek & Jackie, and they sit on a chair together holding hands. :) I will try to get some pictures taken soon of some of the things I have been working on and post a couple of Pre-views for you. Until next time, be blessed!! ~~Jackie

More Feather Trees

Derek has been back at making his awesome little Feather Trees!! We will only have a limited quantity this year, so get them while you can!! They are available in our ebay store & on our Picture Trail. They are hand made by Derek right here in the U.S.A. They are about 13~14" tall including the antique blocks they sit on. Each one is unique as no 2 blocks are the same. They are so fun to decorate with, and make great little Christmas gifts!!

I got three new ones finished, and listed them on my Picture Trail and on Pattern Mart. You can find the links to these on the side bar. I hope you like them. They are all so fun to make. Now I am off to clean my house. My Mom is coming for a visit!! I am so excited!! I haven't seen her in over a year. She is coming a day early, though, so now I have to rush around even more to get things ready for her visit. Take care until next time~~Jackie

~~Staying Busy~~

WOW, I can't believe it's been a couple of weeks since I last blogged about doing the Simple Goods Show!! I have been very busy trying to keep up with orders, updates, and getting things put away for the show. Not to mention all the things that go with having 4 kids still at home. Some days I am just plain tired out!! I've always loved to be challenged though, so even though things are a little hectic around here, I am having so much fun making new things, and even making more of the old things. My oldest will be moving back to WI. on Thursday, so I will have the house all to myself during the day again, which will be nice...no more fighting for the use of the computer! I will miss her terribly, but at least she will be back with good friends, and close to my one & only son.

As for Oct. updates, I am pretty sure that I will be putting an "on vacation" sign up on Lemon Poppy Seeds until the show is over. I will try to put a few things onto my Picture Trail again soon, though. Here is a little peek at one of my new items that I've been working on. Blessings until next time~~Jackie

~~Our Move To Ohio~~

Well, we made it safe & sound in Ohio!! We arrived late on July 3rd. We are some what settled in, but have a long way to go. Our 16 year old has already made a new friend! We have met a few of our neighbors, and they all seem to be very nice. We had quite the scare last night, though!! Terrible storms came through Urbana. 2 houses down from us had a tree struck by lightning, and most of it fell on their home. Thank goodness they weren't hurt!!

Even though we have been busy moving and unpacking, I did manage to get some new things listed on Lemon Poppy Seeds for the 15th of the month update. We had "Christmas in July" for a theme, so I whipped up a few smaller things. Just click on the link to see what I came up with. I do have to say that they are so much better in person!!

A Tiny Snowman

On Saturday we actually got about an inch of snow here in TN. Back in WI. where we used to live, they have received record snowfalls this year. The girls were so excited and ran out to play in the snow before it all disappeared. This is what my daughter Hillary made. Isn't it cute?? It is sitting inside a birdhouse on a table on our porch.

I'VE BEEN TAGGED!!

My friend Sarah of Paisly Studio has tagged me. Now I have to try to come up with 5 interesting things about myself!! Let's see....

About 15 years ago, my hubby bought me a little scroll saw for Christmas (yes, I asked for that) and I started making small wooden items. About a year later, I decided that I wanted to learn to sew, so I bought a used sewing machine for $50.00. It took me about 3 hours just to figure out how to thread it!! I started out by making stark white dolls with raffia hair!! Remember those?? Since then I have gradually gotten more primitive, and as you can tell by looking at my work now...I love to make black folk art dolls.

I have been fortunate enough to mainly stay at home taking care of my 5 children. I did work at a daycare for about 5 years, but was able to take the 2 youngest ones with me while the others were in school. I love being able to be at home so I can always be there when my family needs me.

I am the 6th child of 7 growning up mostly on 40 acres in Central WI. We recently moved to Eastern Tn. I have to say, that I love winters in TN.!!

In my spare time, I love to go to junk stores and antiquing. I am always on the look out for some little treasure to work into my art. I love the primitve style. I hardly ever buy anything that is without some kind of flaw. I love to imagine who it was that built the cupboard, sewed the little dress, etc.

Last, but certainly not least, I am a born-again Christian. I certainly have not always walked the perfect walk, but I believe God loves me in spite of myself. If it wasn't for having God in my life, I wouldn't be where I am today. He deserves all the credit for my success. God gave the gift~~He deserves the glory!!

Now~~ to tag 5 friends~~ I tag....Starla, Jenny, Lori, Lorraine & Wendy.

What's New For Spring~~

It has been cold and rainy here in East TN. We even had a dusting of snow the other day, so I have been staying inside trying to get a jump on my Spring & Summer items for 2008. I have been working on pillows, ornies, rabbits and dolls. Here are a couple of new items I have on ebay right now.

Primitive Pillows

These are my new pillows that I've been working on. They are so much fun to make. Shown are my Washington and Lincoln pillows. I am also working on some Rabbit and Sheep pillows. I just love them!! I stuffed them with sawdust, and they look and feel so great!!

My Little Valentine~~Hailey~~
